Dr. Fain has been practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the Kansas City area since 1991. He has an interest in dental implants, management of wisdom teeth, disorders of the facial skeleton and jaw surgery, pathologic conditions of the jaws, and helping patients that have ill-fitting dentures. Dr. Fain is President of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and served for 4 years as the AAOMS Trustee for the Midwestern States.
He served as the Kansas delegate to the AAOMS for 6 years prior to becoming District Trustee. He also has served as past Chairman of oral and maxillofacial surgery political action committee (OMSPAC), District V Chairman of the OMS Foundation. He is past president of the Kansas City Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Kansas Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Midwestern Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Fain is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has served on the Oral Certifying Examination Committee. Dr. Fain was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and serves as a Kansas Councilor. Dr Fain was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Fain is a native Texan that has lived in the Kansas City area since 1981. After graduating Cum Laude from the University of Texas in Austin and from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, Dr Fain entered the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Program at UMKC/Truman Medical Center in Kansas City where he earned his specialty certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He earned his MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and trained in General Surgery at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Fain has been married for 41 years and has 3 lovely and successful daughters. He enjoys working with the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), traveling with Chris and spending time with his daughters.

AAOMS Board of Trustees
The AAOMS Board of Trustees is a group of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons that have been elected by their peers to lead the national organization. The Board is made up of a representative of the 6 Trustee Districts which represent a region of the country. The 5 officers are elected at large by representatives of each state. Dr. Fain serves as Immediate Past President this year. He is proud of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and their prime concern of patient safety and educating the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons around the country.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to fund research and education thus advancing the specialties of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Fain serves on the Board of Directors of the OMSF and enjoys this aspect of service to the specialty and dentistry. Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons from around the country meet and consider research projects that will benefit our patients in the future and forward the understanding of oral health. The Foundation also works to ensure that the future of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is secure by funding young faculty in their research. Gifts to the Foundation are an excellent way to honor loved ones that have benefited from oral and maxillofacial surgery or a gift may be made in honor of a dental or oral surgery colleague that you admire.
